Career in Healthcare
A short look at what a career in healthcare can offer across Hull & East Yorkshire.
The latest Humber Learning Consortium (HLC) E-Bulletin highlights a number of positive developments supporting skills, employment and progression across Hull and East Yorkshire.

These include the extension of the Exploring Opportunities employment support programme to March 2027, which has already engaged 338 economically inactive and long-term unemployed people, with 80% progressing into positive work or further learning destinations.
HLC has also secured Adult Skills Fund (ASF) funding from Hull and East Yorkshire Combined Authority for 2026/27, enabling its network of community-based providers to deliver English, maths, digital and vocational skills provision designed around local skills and employment needs.
The bulletin also features a new Supported Internship with Amazon, for 18–24-year-olds with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), delivered in partnership with DFN Project SEARCH, Hull City Council and East Riding of Yorkshire Council. The programme combines classroom learning with practical workplace experience and employability development, helping young people with an EHCP progress towards paid employment.
These developments strongly complement HEY LSIP 2.0 priorities around Preparation for Working Life, essential skills, inclusive pathways into employment and strengthening links between learning and the workplace.
