Your chance to join the HEY LSIP Board and influence the skills system for our local area!

17/10/2025
The Hull & Humber Chamber of Commerce, the designated Employer Representative Body for the HEY LSIP, is seeking new members to join its HEY LSIP Board.
This exciting phase will build upon the success,
achievements and progress to date and will continue to deliver on the
priorities identified in the first phase, whilst also developing LSIP 2.0, with now a stronger focus in
expanding employer engagement. It will also be a priority for us to work
collaboratively with the Hull and East Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority
(HEYCA) in helping deliver skills and growth strategies for the region.
The main purpose of the HEY LSIP Board is to oversee and
support the successful development and subsequent delivery of the LSIP to meet
local employer and economic needs. Key responsibilities include, but are not
limited to: guiding the strategy and content of the LSIP; working
collaboratively with the project team, employers, and stakeholders; and
ensuring the LSIP is employer-led. In addition we will be providing vital
insight for Skills England - supporting its three strategic pillars of
improving their understanding of the nation’s skills needs, simplifying access
to skills provision, and mobilising employers and other partners in co-creating
solutions to meet national, regional and local skills needs.
Within our current LSIP we are focusing on our five key
themes of: technical skills (within Agri Skills, Construction, Engineering
Construction, Health & Social Care and Manufacturing); educational teaching
professionals; employability skills & behaviours; careers guidance; and
accessibility. Full details can be found via our website: www.heylsip.com .
We are now commencing the development of LSIP 2.0, which will replace the current LSIP in the summer of 2026. The key aims of the HEY LSIP moving forward can be outlined as:
- Supporting economic growth by addressing skill needs within an area required to meet the skills sector priorities set out by HEYCA and local priorities identified by employers.
- Facilitate the active engagement of employers in the skills system, through giving them a stronger voice in shaping skills provision, and investment in skills training.
- Bring about a change in the supply of skills provision at all levels up to and including level 8.
- Inform how funding could be used to support skills priorities within an area.
We are therefore inviting employers within Hull & East
Yorkshire to get involved and help shape HEY LSIP activity moving forward. We
want to ensure our HEY LSIP Board is inclusive of employers across all sectors,
key stakeholders, Further Education Providers, Higher Education Providers and
Independent Training Providers. If any of the above interests you, and you
would like to be more involved, then please do complete our application form on
the next page for our consideration.
