Hull & Humber Chamber of Commerce

The designated Employer Representative Body for the Hull & East Yorkshire LSIP — placing employers at the heart of the skills system.

The Hull & Humber Chamber of Commerce is the designated Employer Representative Body for the Hull & East Yorkshire LSIP. Being at the heart of the business community enables the Chamber to ensure employers become the centre of the skills system.

Today's Hull & Humber Chamber of Commerce is the result of a series of amalgamations of smaller, more localised Chambers of Commerce across the Northern Lincolnshire and East Yorkshire areas in 1999.

Hull, the oldest of the Chambers, can trace its roots back to 1837 and is one of the UK's oldest Chambers of Commerce. Even 180 years later, its core objective remains the same — to help strengthen the local economy by supporting members in their business endeavours.

"Growing your business, building our economy."

The Chamber now has 2,000 members and affiliates, representing all types of businesses in the Humber region — including North East Lincolnshire, North Lincolnshire, Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire. They represent a more diverse cross-section of companies than any other business organisation, including a high proportion of the region's largest companies.

In the development of the LSIP for Hull & East Yorkshire, the Chamber has continued to work closely with the national network of Chambers, under the British Chambers of Commerce.

What the Chamber does

Chamber of Commerce activities are designed to help companies prosper, thereby creating jobs and helping to sustain the local economy. The Chamber organises business networking events, exhibitions and business awards, and produces publications that raise the profile of members' companies and their products and services.
